Why don't our pets catch a cold when we get one?
Typically, our pets don't have the physical, emotional and chemical stresses we do that weakens our immune systems and makes us available to host a disease process.

How to use "Dr. Jackson's Pattern Interruptions"
Often adjusting room conversations turn into weather reports and a review of sports scores. And while these may have their place, it squanders a valuable opportunity to enlarge a patient’s understanding of chiropractic. When the conversation is chiropractic related, many patients brace for the "data dump" or mini-lecture that touts the "company line."

A more creative strategy is to mount a small dry erasable white board in each adjusting room. First thing every Monday morning write a short, ambiguous statement or question. Avoid allowing this weekly inscription to degenerate into "If your spine is in line, then you are fine" slogan or platitude! Instead, look for words and phrases that require clarification. By asking for an explanation, interested patients give you permission to deliver your "chiropractic lesson" for the day. For those who choose to ignore the statement, it’s business as usual and you don't waste the time or energy.

We offer a new statement and a brief explanation each weekend. Or, review the archives for examples from past weeks.
